INTRODUCTION
The need for assurance of Quality and Regulation of Healthcare is now a legal requirement in all the provinces of Pakistan. Medical litigation is on the rise and healthcare institutions are bound by government regulations to deliver safe and excellent care to patients at all times.
This is an advanced senior executive level course being conducted for the first time in Pakistan with collaboration of Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC).
In addition to quality in healthcare, this course addresses all internationally defined parameters of Clinical Governance and applies the Standards of SHCC to all aspects of management of healthcare facilities.
ADDFRESSING THE COVID-19 CHALLENGE:
Quality standards and HCCS requirements specifically for the current pandemic will be specially covered.

METHODOLOGY
This is a hands-on senior level professional course with an emphasis on case studies and incident related-problem solving discussions. A subject-related case study will be given as home assignment after every class.
Theoretical guidelines will be rendered through a series of PowerPoint presentations. Major emphasis will be placed on evaluating grasp of concepts through class discussions.

TRAINER PROFILE
Dr. Tariq uz Zafar is a senior Healthcare Management Consultant, whose main areas of interest include Hospital Management and Hospital Project Management. In addition to 13 years of experience in trauma & general surgery in the Pakistan Armed Forces, he has been working as a healthcare professional, consultant and teaching faculty in healthcare and hospital management for over 26 years.
As an expert on hospital design, Dr. Zafar has set-up, commissioned and managed several major hospitals viz., an Army Field Hospital, Fatima Memorial Hospital (Lahore), Children’s Hospital (Quetta), Chiniot General Hospital, Institute of Behavioural Sciences and Tabba Heart Institute (all in Karachi) in Pakistan. He has been Project Director Mega Projects, National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases, Karachi.
Dr. Zafar has been CEO at Northwest General Hospital & Research Centre, Peshawar, a project of Alliance Healthcare (Pvt) Ltd which was rated in 2012 by the Arabia500 as Pakistan’s fastest growing company.
Dr. Zafar’s work also includes working as a consultant in hospital equipment procurement and installation, alternate technology power generation & HVAC (heat-exchange co-generation technology) and hospital waste management systems for large hospitals.
Dr Zafar was part of the start-up team in Healthcare Management programs at the Insititute of Business Management, College of Physicians & Surgeons, Pakistan, Dow University & Ziauddin Medical University.
Previously Head of Department, Healthcare Management Department, Hamdard University, Karachi and Head of Department Hospital and Health Management Department at the Institute of Business Management, Karachi, Dr. Zafar is currently Visiting Faculty there and at Healthcare Management programs in several leading universities in Pakistan including The Pakistan Institute of Management, Karachi. Dr Zafar has initiated and teaches the first course on Healthcare Facilities & Hospital Design for Hospital Managers at IBA, Karachi.
Currently, Dr Zafar is working as a Consultant to the Paedaitric Cardiology Hospital Project NICVD which he has planned and designed.
Dr Zafar is well-traveled and is a seasoned speaker on diverse Healthcare Management topics at prestigious national and international fora including Hospital Build Asia and Middle East, Arab Health, Abu Dhabi Medical Congress, etc. He has many published papers to his credit and is a member of the Pakistan Medical Association.
