COURSE DESCRIPTION
Anger is a normal, healthy emotion but can quickly become unhealthy and detrimental if not understood and controlled. It is a kind of emotion that we encounter in our dealings with others and as a reaction to certain events. Knowing if how we respond when we are angry is appropriate or if we need to master some anger management techniques can sometimes be difficult to determine, partly because it is human nature to reject the notion that we may have a problem with how we behave. Anger management concerns recognizing the triggers for anger as early as possible and expressing these feelings and frustrations in a cool, calm and collected way. We often have learnt-behaviors as to how to deal with strong emotions, so anger management is about unlearning ineffective coping mechanisms and re-learning more positive ways to deal with the problems and frustrations associated with anger.
