PIM - The
Institution
PIM a pioneer in the field of executive
development in
PIM was
established by the Government of Pakistan to promote management development in
the country. It functions under the Ministry of Industries & Production
with an autonomous Board of Governors appointed by the Federal Government. The
Secretary, Ministry of Industries & Production, is the Chairman of the
Board. The operating head of the Institute is a director, who is responsible
for administrative and academic affairs and is also a member of the Board of
Governors.
PIM is a non-profit organization and its
financial requirements are derived from course fees, contributions from member
organizations and government grants. It has been a recipient of technical
assistance from many international aid-giving agencies and is widely recognized
at home and abroad as the leading management development institute in the
country.

The Evening
MBA Program at PIM
In response to a growing demand from PIM’s
long-standing clientele to launch a flexible EMBA program for their executives,
PIM launched the EMBA program in 1998 in affiliation with the IBA Karachi. The
21st batch of EMBA students will graduate this year, and our alumni
are currently working in national and multinational corporations across
The EMBA program at PIM aims to provide in
service managers with the opportunity to upgrade their skills and
qualifications while working in an increasingly competitive business
environment. Today, the task of managing has become very challenging with
globalization and the rapid pace of technological developments, making it
critical for managers to constantly upgrade their skills and their knowledge
base. The EMBA program at PIM with its flexible timings and built in options
makes it easy for managers to work and improve their professional
qualifications simultaneously. Classes are held in the evening from 6-9 p.m.
Course Design
PIM's MBA Program is designed to provide
in-service managers with a comprehensive exposure to management theory and
practical skills so that they can become better professionals, effective
leaders, capable managers and more productive organizational members. The
teaching methodology is PIM's time tested and successful mix of theory,
lectures, cases studies, group discussions, real life projects, computerized
simulations and practical research. Students will be evaluated comprehensively
not only through examinations but through a continuous process of observation
throughout their academic session to accurately evaluate their learning levels.
The duration of PIM's MBA is 3 years and classes are held in the evenings
thereby allowing in-service managers to undertake this academic upgradation with ease.

Reference Guide

The duration of degree is 3 years (six semesters)
and is awarded by University of Karachi.
2.
Total cost of degree is Rs 2,97,625.
This includes one time Rs 25,000 Admission fee,
Rs 5,000 refundable security
deposit, Enrolment fee (UOK) Rs. 9,625/- and Examination fee per semester (Rs.1,000/- x 6) Rs. 6,000/-.
3.
Classes are held in the evening at PIM from
6:00-9:00 P.M Monday through Saturday.
There are no classes on Sundays.
4.
Admission is through entrance examination conducted
by National Testing Service (NTS) twice in a year June and December followed by
an interview of PIM.
5.
Minimum requirement for admission in the MBA Program
is a Bachelor Degree with at least 45% or equivalent marks from any recognized
university.
6.
The MBA degree consists of 24 courses that must be
completed at PIM. No transfer of credit from any other institution is allowed.
7.
Normally, the 24 courses can be completed in six
semesters, with four courses per semester (equal to 4 classes/week)
8.
The degree must be completed within 7 years period.
9.
The duration of each semester is 6 months including
examination and semester breaks.
10.
Students are required to maintain a minimum GPA of
2.2 in each semester & also as a cumulative of all courses, otherwise
degree cannot be awarded.

Final exams will be conducted by

Students need to secure atleast
50% marks in final exam and 70% marks in the quizzes, mid-term, and assignments to pass the
subject.
